SLD Telecom of the Republic of Korea and the Saigon Post and Telecommunication
Services Corp. (Saigon Postel) will invest 260 million USD to expand S-Fone, the
first CDMA-technology mobile phone service provider in Viet Nam.
S-Fone is expected to cover the whole country and carry out a series of new
value-added services in late May.
By the third quarter of this year, S-Fone will provide subscribers with
video-on-demand (VOD) and music-on-demand (MOD) services through mobile phones.
S-Fone users can enjoy many other services such as 240-character text messages,
Internet access and mobile games.
S-Fone is left far behind in the market by Vinaphone, MobiFone and Viettel, with
between 400,000 and 500,000 subscribers out of an estimated 12 million phone
users in Viet Nam.-Enditem
