The Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department (HK IPD) officially granted its protection for SPT’s trademark on March 11, 2008 under the trademark no.300956241. The protection from IPD will cover class 38 and will be valid for ten years starting from September 18, 2007.
SPT established an entity in Hong Kong in August 2007, called Saigon Postel Hong Kong Limited in August 2007. Before this, SPT has maintained its presence as a representative office. SPT also set up a POP (Point of Presence) for interconnection with its partners in Hong Kong.
The protection from HK IPD is one of the achievements of SPT’s efforts in popularizing its trademark in international markets. SPT was also awarded the Cirtificate of Registration by the Australia Interllectual Property authority (IP Australia) on January 25, 2007.
