After successfully renewed its trademark at the Vietnam National Office of Intellectual Property (NOIP) in August 2006, Saigon Postel Corporation (SPT) filed an application for the international registration of its trademark at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) under the Madrid Protocol on January 25, 2007, claiming priority of August 01, 2006 from its original country.
After nearly nine months, SPT was officially rewarded the Certificate of Registration by WIPO on September 13, 2007 with the registration No. 933715 in respect of four classes of goods/services: 35, 36, 38 and 39. SPT also claimed its trademark to be protected in designed countries of the Protocol like Australia, European Community, Republic of Korea, Singapore and United States of America. The Certificate from WIPO firmed a good base for the designed countries to accept its application. It also set a meaningful start for SPT to intergrate itself into the globalization process.
Having recognized the importance of the international recognition, SPT reinforces its trademark on a global scale and takes effective strategies not only to maintain but also commercialize its trademark as a dynamic and profitable one in the post and telecommunications industry
