Key Milestones


Having been established under the order of the Prime Minister, with the charter capital of VND 50 billions, being the first joint-stock company in post and telecom sector in Vietnam.

1996 Began trading telecom equipments and officially launch domestic and international postal services under the brandname of Saigon Post (SGP).
1997 Officially launched Internet services under the brandname of SaigonNet, becoming one of the first four Internet Service Providers (ISP) in Vietnam.
1999 Officially launched online information service as an Internet Content Provider (ICP) with and gateways.
2001 Officially launched VoIP service under carrier code of 177 for local and international long-distance call.
2002 Invested, implemented and cut-over the wireline telephone network; officially launched fixed telephone service.
2006 Mobile network S-Fone got nationwide coverage. Cooperated with SingTel (Singapore) to provide V-Connect+ (IP VPN). In December: having been granted the license to establish the network and providing long-distance and international calls nationwide.
2007 SPT is a members of The Asia -America Gateway Association (AAG).
2010 Proposal to change the business model of S-Telecom, the center that operates the mobile network fo S-Fone, from BBC (BCC – Business Cooperation Contract) to joint-venture approved by the Prime Minister in August.
2011 In December, S-Telecom received the permission to change to joint-venture, in which SPT is the majority shareholder.
2012 In March 2012, Accepted by Ministry of Information and Communication to switch the mobile network from CDMA technology to UMTS 850 (3G).

SPT has been granted a full range of licenses in order to do business sustainably in Post & Telecom field in Vietnam, in which the two licenses of (1) establishing the network and providing long-distance and international calls nationwide and (2) establishing the network and providing mobile communication with UMTS 850 (3G) are the most crucial ones.
